Jesus’ command is: ‘Love each other as I have loved you’ John 15: 12.

Our prayer today will reflect this theme as I ask you to contemplate the works of groups and individuals who have shown their love by helping others.

Almighty God, our heavenly Father help us obey your commands and remain in your love; to live by the fruits of the Spirit and to listen to you with all our hearts and with all our souls.
Almighty God give support to the International Justice Mission human rights agency as they show their love for others by proving justice for the poor is possible as they confront and prosecute the abusers of those subjected to slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression.
Let us contemplate this statement and ask God for his help: ‘Violence against the poor is not driven by the overwhelming power of the perpetrators – it is driven by the vulnerability of the victims.’

Lord, let us hear your command: ‘to love each other as you love us’

Almighty God, give support to The Elders, the independent global leaders, who show their love for others, as they join together in their common commitment for peace and universal human rights. By opening dialogue channels these states men and women offer hope for those who suffer poverty due to child marriage as equality of women is discussed more positively. They also encourage leaders of warring nations back to the negotiating table.
Let us contemplate this statement and ask God for his help: ‘Peace depends not on what we are taught from the outside, but from what we know on the inside. Everyone is born with an innate sense to be at peace. We can return to that.’

Lord, let us hear your command: ‘to love each other as you love us’

Almighty God, give support to the Street Pastors who show their love as they roll up their sleeves and get involved with young people who feel excluded and marginalised by engaging with them on the streets, in the pubs, and clubs. Building trust by listening and caring the Street Pastors also offer practical help from blankets to flip-flops as they rescue youngsters from their drunken predicaments.
Let us contemplate this statement and ask God for his help: ‘Servitude is about just doing what the Lord has called us to do.’

Lord, let us hear your command: ‘to love each other as you love us’

Almighty God, give support to those who show their love to you with their involvement with their church and community, as they learn to energise their faith and listen to you.
Finally, let us contemplate these words from Jesus and ask God for his help: ‘I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit – fruit that will last’

Lord, let us hear your command: ‘to love each other as you love us’
Amen
