The Rev. Bywaters was Rector of
Willingham from 1937 until 1965. He took a great interest in church history
generally and, of course, in the history of his own church in Willingham.
In around 1963 he published a short document describing the church.
Although more information has been uncovered since (such as the origin of
the current roof prior to installation at Willingham in the 17th century),
Bywaters' history provides a good description of the church and provides
insights into its history.
Here we provide two options for reading:
First there is a facsimile copy of the document which is interesting
because it includes contemporary (1960s) advertising for establishments in
the village.

Second we provide the full text of the
document in normal web format. This will be quicker to load and easier to
read in you just want the raw information.

Note that Bywaters describes the church
in 1962 although few changes have occurred since that time. Also note that
the valuables he describes, such as the ancient chalices and the parish records, are no
longer kept in the church.
